Description:  The Vermont Protected Lands Database (VPLD) is a geospatial database, or GIS layer, of parcels that are currently protected from development through public ownership, private ownership, or protection mechanisms such as easements. The VPLD was designed to facilitate land-conservation planning and related efforts in Vermont. Starting in June 2021, updates will be made directly by the Contributing Technical Partners (CTPs) via an ArcGIS Online (AGO) editing system. As a result, future updates to the VPLD available in the Vermont Geodata Portal will occur with greater regularity and the issue of overlapping features will be more readily reconciled.

Copyright:  The University of Vermont's Spatial Analysis Lab (UVM-SAL) creating the initial version of this dataset (CONSPUB) in the mid-1990's. Current VLPD partners include: The TNC, UVM-SAL, USFS-GMNF, NRCS, ANR, ACCD-VCGI, GMC, UVLT, VHCB and VLT. The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources also includes: The Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR), Fish and Wildlife Department (FWD), Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), FPR Lands Administration Division and the ANR Geographic Information Systems Office (ANR GIS).
